Spyro: Season of Ice was released for which Nintendo handheld?
Answer
Game Boy Advance
Answer
Game Boy Advance
Spyro: Season of Ice was released for the Game Boy Advance.
Released in 2001, Season of Ice was the first Spyro game made for Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance and one of the earliest major departures from the series’ original PlayStation home. Digital Eclipse developed the game, while Universal Interactive Studios published it.
Unlike the fully 3D console adventures, Season of Ice uses an isometric perspective designed for the handheld’s hardware. Spyro travels through four seasonal Fairy Realms, rescuing fairies who have been frozen by the game’s antagonist, Grendor. The game retains familiar elements such as gems, enemies, fire-breathing, gliding and collectible-driven exploration.
The Game Boy Advance is easy to confuse with the Game Boy Color or Nintendo DS. The Game Boy Color was an older 8-bit handheld, while the DS arrived several years later with dual screens. Season of Ice belongs specifically to the Game Boy Advance era and was also known as Spyro Advance in Japan.
