Rayman Legends is the fifth main title in the Rayman series.
Released in 2013, Rayman Legends follows Rayman Origins, which revived the franchise as a colorful 2D platformer in 2011. Legends continues that style while adding new stages, musical levels, playable characters, and cooperative multiplayer. Ubisoft Montpellier developed the game, with Ubisoft serving as publisher.
The numbering can be confusing because the franchise contains many spin-offs, ports, and games featuring the Rabbids. Rayman M, Rayman Arena, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Rayman Jungle Run, and Rayman Fiesta Run are not counted as the numbered mainline sequence. The first three major entries are Rayman, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc; Origins and Legends follow them as the fourth and fifth main titles.
Legends was initially planned as a Wii U release, but its launch was delayed and it became a multiplatform game. Its later Nintendo Switch port is separately titled Rayman Legends Definitive Edition.
