Pocketpair hired over 40 additional employees during Palworld’s development.
The hiring surge reflected how dramatically the project grew beyond the studio’s earlier scale. Pocketpair had a much smaller team when it began work, while Palworld demanded expertise in open-world design, multiplayer technology, character and creature production, animation, user interface work, testing, and live development.
Many of the new hires were brought in specifically to build Palworld rather than simply continuing the team structure used for Craftopia. The expansion helped the studio tackle a game with far more systems and content than its previous projects, although the company still operated as an independent developer.
“Over 40” means the number was more than forty; it does not mean the final Palworld team consisted of exactly forty people. The figure also refers to additional employees hired during development, not the game’s entire lifetime workforce or every contractor involved. That distinction helps explain why a relatively small studio could produce a worldwide hit while still having limited capacity for rapid updates at launch.
