The 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend ran over four calendar days.
The first fixture was played on Friday, 21 August 2026, and the final fixture took place on Monday, 24 August 2026. The opening round therefore covered Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The ten matches were distributed as one on Friday, five on Saturday, three on Sunday and one on Monday. This spread allowed the league’s broadcast partners to show fixtures across multiple time slots instead of staging the entire round on one day.
Calling it an “opening weekend” can be slightly misleading because the round extended into Monday. The Premier League’s official fixture list identified the Friday opener and Monday finale as part of the same opening round. The schedule began with Arsenal versus Coventry City and ended with Fulham versus Chelsea.
