On which day did the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend finish?

The 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend finished on Monday, 24 August 2026.

The closing fixture was Fulham versus Chelsea at Craven Cottage. Chelsea won 3–2, ending a first matchweek that began with Arsenal’s 3–0 home victory over Coventry City on Friday, 21 August.

The schedule therefore covered Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Although Premier League fans often use “opening weekend” as a general label for the first Saturday and Sunday, the official first round extended beyond those two days because the final match was scheduled for Monday.

The date is different from the season’s start date, which was Friday, 21 August. It is also different from the fixture-list publication date of 19 June 2026. Keeping those three dates separate prevents a frequent mix-up when describing the season’s opening round.
