On what date did the 2026–27 Premier League opening match round conclude?

The 2026–27 Premier League opening match round concluded on 24 August 2026.

The final fixture was Fulham versus Chelsea, played on Monday evening at Craven Cottage. It followed matches staged on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so the first round extended across four calendar days.

The Premier League scheduled Fulham against Chelsea for a 20:00 BST kick-off. Chelsea won the west London meeting 3–2, completing the opening round with a five-goal match.

This arrangement reflects modern Premier League scheduling, in which broadcast selections, European competition and stadium logistics can spread one match round across several days. The opening round was also affected by Brighton’s European qualification commitments.
