Miraflores Palace is the presidential palace in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Located on Urdaneta Avenue in the Libertador Municipality, it serves as the official dispatch and head office of Venezuela’s president. It has also served at times as a presidential residence, although La Casona has been the country’s official residence in later periods.
Construction began in 1884 for Joaquín Crespo, who intended the European-style building as a family residence. The palace was completed in 1897, with Giuseppe Orsi di Mombello as its architect. Venezuela’s national administration purchased the property in 1911, after which it became the official presidential residence and office.
Miraflores contains rooms tied to Venezuelan and Latin American history, including the Ayacucho Hall, the Hall of the Mirrors, and the Peruvian Sun Hall, which features gold donated by Peru. The building was declared a National Historical Monument in 1979. Its historical archive preserves nearly 15 million pages of presidential records.
