The animated series The Adventures of Paddington Bear was first broadcast in 1997.
This series was a later television adaptation of Michael Bond’s character, following the earlier 1975 programme Paddington. It presented Paddington’s adventures in a conventional animated format and expanded the character’s presence for a new generation of viewers.
The title is easily confused with other Paddington productions. The 1975 series is often called Paddington Bear, while the 2019 computer-animated programme is titled The Adventures of Paddington. The 1997 series belongs between those two productions and is usually identified by its full title, The Adventures of Paddington Bear.
Television listings and international releases can differ in scheduling, but 1997 is the commonly recorded first-broadcast year for this series. It should not be confused with the release years of the live-action films, which began in 2014.
