Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé premiered on Netflix on April 17, 2019. The film documents her headline performance at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and combines concert footage with behind-the-scenes material about its creation.
The performance was notable for its celebration of historically Black colleges and universities, marching bands, majorette-style dancers, and Black musical traditions. Beyoncé’s Coachella appearance was widely nicknamed “Beychella.”
A common date mix-up is confusing the documentary’s release year with the festival performance year. The concert happened in 2018, while Homecoming, the film about it, arrived in 2019.
