The Ark Encounter theme park opened in Kentucky in 2016.
Ark Encounter is a Christian theme park in Williamstown, Kentucky, centered on a large replica of Noah’s Ark. The attraction opened to the public on July 7, 2016, and was developed by Answers in Genesis, the organization also associated with the Creation Museum in nearby Petersburg.
The replica follows dimensions given in Genesis: 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. Its designers selected a modern conversion for the cubit and built a steel-framed structure with a timber exterior.
The park is a modern religious and tourism project, not an archaeological discovery of the ancient Ark. Its opening date is therefore separate from debates about the historicity of the Flood or searches for remains on Mount Ararat. The attraction presents a particular young-Earth Christian interpretation of the biblical account.
