Beyoncé voiced Nala in the 2019 live-action film The Lion King.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King was released by Walt Disney Pictures in July 2019. It is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Beyoncé provided the voice of the adult Nala, Simba’s childhood friend who becomes his queen.
Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones reprised his original role as Mufasa. The cast also included Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa. Beyoncé also contributed to the companion album The Lion King: The Gift.
The film is often called live-action even though its animal imagery was created digitally. The year can also be confused with the 1994 release of the original animated film, but Beyoncé’s Nala belongs to the 2019 remake.
