Beyoncé released the album B’Day in 2006.
Columbia Records issued B’Day on September 4, 2006, Beyoncé’s 25th birthday. The title is a wordplay combining her nickname with “birthday,” while also referring to the album’s release date.
The album included “Déjà Vu,” featuring Jay-Z, “Irreplaceable,” and “Beautiful Liar,” a later duet with Shakira. “Irreplaceable” became one of Beyoncé’s best-known solo singles and spent ten weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
B’Day followed Dangerously in Love and came before I Am... Sasha Fierce. A deluxe edition released in 2007 added additional material, which can cause confusion when people distinguish the original album from its later expanded edition.
