Beyoncé headlined the Coachella festival in 2018.
Her performance took place on April 14, 2018, during the first weekend of that year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. She became the first Black woman to headline the festival, making the appearance a notable moment in Coachella history.
The set featured a large marching-band and dance ensemble, songs from across her career, and appearances by Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Jay-Z also appeared during the performance.
The performance was later documented in the 2019 Netflix film Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. It is sometimes called “Beychella,” a fan term that combines Beyoncé’s name with Coachella. That nickname refers to the 2018 performance, not a separate festival.
