Pokémon Pokopia is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Kanto region.
The game presents Kanto in a radically different condition from its familiar role in the original Pokémon games. Humans have abandoned the world, and the landscape has become uninhabitable for Pokémon. Ditto’s task is to help restore habitats so life can return.
This setting connects Pokopia to one of the franchise’s best-known regions without making it a conventional remake of Pokémon Red, Blue, or Yellow. The story uses a damaged Kanto as the foundation for crafting, exploration, and ecological recovery.
Players gradually uncover clues about what happened through logs left behind by humanity. The game explains that inexplicable phenomena made the landscape hostile, forcing humans to leave for outer space. Kanto is therefore the setting, while the game’s central mystery concerns the disappearance of both people and Pokémon.
