In which city is the original Disneyland located?

The story behind the answer

The original Disneyland is located in Anaheim, California.

Walt Disney opened Disneyland on July 17, 1955, in Orange County, southeast of Los Angeles. It was the first theme park created and operated by the Walt Disney Company, and the only Disney park designed and built under Walt Disney’s direct supervision. Its opening introduced a new kind of attraction: a carefully themed park where rides, architecture, characters, and storytelling formed one connected experience.

Anaheim was selected partly because Disney wanted a larger site than the studio’s Burbank surroundings could provide. The park was built on former orange-growing land, and its success helped transform Anaheim into a major tourism destination. Disneyland Resort later expanded to include Disney California Adventure, hotels, and Downtown Disney.

A common mix-up is Orlando, Florida, which is home to Walt Disney World—not the original Disneyland. Paris and Tokyo are also names of later international Disney resorts.
