In which city is the Lord's Cricket Ground located?

The story behind the answer

Lord's Cricket Ground is located in London, England. More precisely, it stands in St John's Wood, in the City of Westminster, northwest London.

The ground is named after Thomas Lord, who established the first Lord's venue in 1787. The present ground opened in 1814 after the venue moved twice. It is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), whose historic laws and traditions have made Lord's one of cricket's most important institutions.

Lord's is widely nicknamed “the Home of Cricket.” It hosts international matches involving England, as well as fixtures for Middlesex and major cricket organisations. The famous Pavilion, traditional slope, and honours boards are among its best-known features.

A common mix-up is confusing Lord's with The Oval, another famous London cricket ground. The Oval is in Kennington, south London, while Lord's is in St John's Wood. The ground is also sometimes described as being in Middlesex because of its historic county association, but its present administrative location is Westminster.
