In which city are the Petronas Towers located?
Answer
Kuala Lumpur
Answer
Kuala Lumpur
The Petronas Towers are located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The interlinked skyscrapers stand at the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, commonly called KLCC. They were developed for Malaysia's national petroleum company, Petronas, and their twin form became one of the defining symbols of the country's capital. The towers are connected by a two-level skybridge between the 41st and 42nd floors.
Each tower has 88 floors and rises 451.9 metres, or about 1,483 feet, to its architectural pinnacle. The design by Argentine-American architect César Pelli combines modern engineering with geometric motifs associated with Islamic architecture, including repeated eight-pointed star forms in the floor plan.
The towers were officially opened in 1999 and held the title of the world's tallest buildings from 1998 until 2004. A frequent mistake is to answer Dubai because of the Burj Khalifa, another famous supertall skyscraper; Dubai's landmark is separate, while the Petronas Towers are Kuala Lumpur's signature skyline feature.
