Beyoncé headlined the Coachella festival in Indio, California, in 2018.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, a city in Riverside County’s Coachella Valley. The festival’s name comes from the valley rather than from the city where the venue is located, which can lead to confusion with nearby Palm Springs.
Beyoncé performed as a headliner on April 14 and April 21, 2018. Her set was widely nicknamed “Beychella” and included a reunion with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. She became the first Black woman to headline the festival.
The 2018 performances were later documented in Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. Indio is therefore the specific city associated with the event, while Palm Springs is another well-known city in the same wider desert region.
