In which animated film did Beyoncé voice Queen Tara in 2013?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced Queen Tara in the 2013 animated film Epic.

Epic is a computer-animated fantasy adventure film directed by Chris Wedge and released by Blue Sky Studios. Beyoncé voices Queen Tara, the benevolent ruler of a miniature forest kingdom whose world is threatened by conflict and destruction.

The voice cast also includes Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine, Josh Hutcherson as Nod, Colin Farrell as Ronin, and Christoph Waltz as Mandrake. The story is based loosely on William Joyce’s children’s book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs.

Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Rise Up” to the film’s soundtrack. Epic is sometimes confused with The Lion King because Beyoncé later voiced Nala in the 2019 computer-animated remake of that Disney classic. Her roles are different: Queen Tara belongs to Epic, while Nala belongs to The Lion King.
