The Practical Magic 2 sequel was announced as being in development in 2024.
Warner Bros. Pictures made the announcement on June 10, 2024, with Akiva Goldsman writing the script. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were then in negotiations to reprise their roles and produce the film with Denise Di Novi.
Nicole Kidman confirmed on June 13, 2024, that she and Bullock would return. Later milestones included the announcement of Susanne Bier as director in May 2025, the addition of new cast members, and the start of filming in July 2025.
The development announcement year is not the same as the release year. Practical Magic 2 is scheduled for U.S. release in 2026, while the original Practical Magic dates from 1998.
