LEGO Star Wars Death Star set 10188 was released in 2008.
Set 10188 was a large playset depicting the Death Star, the Galactic Empire's battle station from the original trilogy. Unlike a sealed display model, it opened to reveal rooms and action areas, allowing builders to stage scenes involving characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and the Emperor.
Its release placed the Death Star among LEGO Star Wars' most ambitious play-oriented sets of the late 2000s. The model combined a substantial piece count with a wide character selection, making it attractive both as a playset and as a display item.
A frequent source of confusion is the later Death Star set 75159, released in 2016. That set updated the same broad subject with revised construction and minifigures.
