AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. The induction ceremony took place on March 10, 2003, recognizing the band’s lasting influence on hard rock and their decades of international success.
The inductees included Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd, and the late Bon Scott. Scott’s inclusion reflected his central role as AC/DC’s singer from 1974 until his death in 1980, even though Johnson had fronted the band during its biggest commercial period.
At the ceremony, AC/DC performed “Highway to Hell” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith providing guest vocals. Some accounts also mention former bassist Mark Evans, but he was ultimately omitted from the official induction lineup. The 2003 date is distinct from AC/DC’s later inductions into other halls of fame, including the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1988.
