U2 released the album Achtung Baby in 1991.
The album appeared on 18 November 1991 as U2’s seventh studio album. It marked a major change from the roots-oriented rock associated with The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum, introducing more electronic textures, dance influences, distortion, and deliberately fragmented production.
Recording began in Berlin and continued in Dublin. Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno produced the album, with Flood serving as engineer and later receiving a co-production credit. The sessions were difficult at first, but the band’s work on “One” helped restore momentum and shaped the finished record.
Achtung Baby launched songs such as “The Fly,” “Mysterious Ways,” and “One.” Its supporting Zoo TV Tour extended the album’s multimedia aesthetic. The album is sometimes confused with Zooropa, which followed in 1993, but Achtung Baby belongs to 1991.
