LEGO released the first LEGO BrickHeadz characters in 2016.
BrickHeadz is a LEGO product line built around stylized, blocky figures of recognizable characters. The designs use LEGO bricks and slopes to create square heads, compact bodies and distinctive facial features. Early releases included characters from licensed properties such as Star Wars, Marvel and DC Comics.
The line appeared during a period when LEGO was expanding beyond conventional minifigure-scale play. BrickHeadz models are larger than minifigures and are generally intended as buildable display figures, although they retain movable elements such as arms or ears in many designs.
The launch year is sometimes confused with later waves or with LEGO’s other figure-focused products. LEGO expanded the range substantially after its initial 2016 release, adding characters from films, games, seasonal collections and original designs. The name BrickHeadz uses a stylized spelling, but the product line is officially written with a final “z.”
