Hasbro introduced its six-inch Star Wars Black Series figures in 2013. The line was designed for collectors who wanted more detailed figures than the smaller, traditional Star Wars format generally provided.
The Black Series used a scale of about six inches, allowing Hasbro to include more sculpted detail, articulation, and character-specific accessories. Its packaging and presentation also positioned the range toward adult collectors, although it remained part of the broader Star Wars toy business.
The line is distinct from Kenner’s classic 3.75-inch figures and from Hasbro’s larger 12-inch figures. The first Black Series releases included characters from across Star Wars history, and the range later expanded to films, television productions, and other parts of the franchise.
