In Tim Burton’s Dumbo, what is the name of the elephant’s mother?

Mrs. Jumbo is the name of Dumbo’s mother in Tim Burton’s 2019 film Dumbo.

The film follows the young elephant whose oversized ears allow him to fly. After being separated from his mother, Dumbo becomes a sensation at the circus, while the human characters work to reunite the pair and challenge exploitative entertainment owners.

The story is adapted from Disney’s 1941 animated film Dumbo, where the mother is also identified as Mrs. Jumbo. The 2019 version expands the human storyline and adds characters including former circus performer Holt Farrier, played by Colin Farrell, and entrepreneur V. A. Vandevere, played by Michael Keaton.

Dumbo’s mother is often casually called “Jumbo,” but the name used for her in the film is Mrs. Jumbo. Dumbo himself does not receive a conventional personal name; “Dumbo” begins as a cruel nickname derived from “dumb” and becomes his familiar identity.
