In Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, how many children win Golden Tickets?

The story behind the answer

Five children win Golden Tickets in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The tickets are hidden inside ordinary Wonka chocolate bars and grant their finders admission to Willy Wonka’s factory. Charlie Bucket is the fifth winner, joining Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee.

Each child represents a different flaw or family influence, and the factory tour gradually removes the children from the group through a series of fantastical incidents. Charlie’s humility and kindness distinguish him from the other winners, who are generally portrayed as spoiled, competitive, gluttonous, or obsessed with television and technology.

The 2005 film stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie. It is based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel, though the film adds material about Wonka’s childhood and his difficult relationship with his dentist father.
