In the UK television show Dragons' Den, which Dragon founded Amstrad?
Answer
Alan Sugar
Answer
Alan Sugar
Alan Sugar founded Amstrad, the businessman-led company associated with his role on the UK television show Dragons' Den.
Sugar established Amstrad in 1968; the name was formed from his initials, A.M.S., and the word “Trading.” The company first dealt in electrical goods and later became especially known for consumer electronics, computers and satellite television equipment.
His business success made him a prominent investor and public figure before he joined Dragons' Den. On the programme, he became known for direct questioning and for evaluating whether a product had a realistic route to profit, not merely whether the pitch was entertaining.
Amstrad is sometimes confused with companies founded by other Dragons, such as Phones International Group, associated with Peter Jones, or Ryman, associated with Theo Paphitis. Those are separate businesses. Sugar's connection with Amstrad is historical and foundational: he created the company and built it into a major British electronics brand.
