The traditional dimensions of Noah’s Ark give it a length-to-width ratio of 6:1.
Genesis 6:15 lists the Ark as 300 cubits long and 50 cubits wide. Dividing 300 by 50 produces a length-to-width ratio of 6 to 1. The stated height is 30 cubits, so the vessel’s length was also ten times its height under the same biblical measurements.
This proportion has attracted attention because modern barges and other displacement vessels can use relatively long, broad hulls for stability. That comparison does not demonstrate that the Ark was engineered according to modern naval principles; it simply describes a geometric feature of the Genesis specifications.
The exact size of a cubit varied in the ancient world, so the ratio is more certain than any conversion into metres or feet. Later reconstructions, models, and theme-park replicas often preserve the 6:1 proportion while adding structural features not stated in Genesis.
