In the Quran’s flood narrative, Noah’s Ark came to rest on Mount Judi.
Quran 11:44 states that the ark settled upon al-Judi after the command came for the earth to swallow its water and the sky to stop raining. Mount Judi is traditionally identified with a mountain or mountainous region in southeastern Turkey near the borders of Syria and Iraq. The Quranic account therefore names a location different from the “mountains of Ararat” mentioned in Genesis.
This distinction is often missed because “Mount Ararat” became the best-known location in later popular treatments of the ark story. Genesis does not actually name a single mountain called Mount Ararat; it refers to the land or mountains of Ararat. The Quran specifically uses al-Judi.
Both traditions describe a catastrophic flood, a rescued family, and an ark, but their wording, chronology, and theological emphases differ. Comparing the accounts requires keeping their place names separate.
