In the Quran's account of Noah's Ark, on which mountain did the Ark settle?

The story behind the answer

In the Quran's account of Noah's Ark, the Ark settled on Mount Judi.

Quran 11:44 says that, after the waters subsided, the Ark came to rest on al-Judi. The mountain is commonly identified with Mount Judi, also called Cudi Dağı, in southeastern Turkey near the borders of Syria and Iraq. This differs from the Genesis wording about the mountains of Ararat.

The two traditions are often merged in popular culture, leading people to use “Mount Ararat” for every version of the story. In Islamic scripture, however, Mount Judi is the named location. The Quranic passage also describes the command for the earth to swallow its water and the sky to stop raining.

Identification of the modern mountain remains a matter of tradition and interpretation, not a confirmed archaeological finding. The answer concerns the Quranic account specifically, so it should not be treated as a correction of Genesis or as evidence that either narrative has been physically verified.
