In the Quran, which son of Noah refused to board the Ark?
Answer
Noah’s unnamed son
Answer
Noah’s unnamed son
In the Quran, Noah’s unnamed son refused to board the Ark.
Surah Hud 11:42–43 describes Noah calling to his son during the rising flood. The son says he will take refuge on a mountain, believing it will protect him from the water. Noah replies that nothing can protect anyone from God’s command, and a wave comes between them. The son is not given a personal name in the Quran.
This differs from Genesis, which names Noah’s sons as Shem, Ham, and Japheth but does not narrate an estranged son refusing the Ark. Islamic commentators and later traditions have supplied names or identifications, but those are not stated directly in the Quranic passage. The unnamed status is therefore the safest canonical answer and avoids assigning him one of Genesis’s named sons.
