In the Quran, the prophet Nuh is warned to build the Ark before the flood. Nuh is the Arabic name for Noah, and the Quran presents him as a messenger who calls his people to worship God before the punishment arrives.
The Quran recounts Nuh's story in several surahs, including Hud, al-Mu'minun, al-Shu'ara, al-Qamar, and Nuh. It emphasizes his preaching, his people's rejection, and God's command to construct the vessel under divine guidance.
The Quranic account has details that differ from Genesis. For example, it includes a conversation between Nuh and one of his sons, who refuses to board and is overcome by the flood. Islamic tradition also discusses the ark's landing on Mount Judi. Nuh is therefore the canonical Arabic form of the prophet's name, not a separate flood hero.
