In the Quran, Nuh is the prophet who builds the Ark and warns his people about the flood. Nuh is the Arabic form of the name commonly rendered Noah in English.
The Quran recounts Nuh's preaching and the refusal of many people to believe him in several passages, including Surah 11, Surah 23, Surah 26, Surah 54, and Surah 71. Surah 11 describes the construction of the vessel under divine instruction and the arrival of the flood.
Islamic tradition treats Nuh as one of the major prophets. The Quranic account shares the broad flood-survival theme with Genesis but differs in details, emphasis, and terminology. For example, the Quran includes a dramatic episode involving one of Nuh's sons, who refuses to board the Ark and is overwhelmed by the waves.
