In the Quran, Noah is called Nuh.
Nuh is the Arabic form of the name traditionally rendered as Noah in English. The Quran presents Nuh as a prophet who warns his people, calls them to worship God, and faces rejection from many of them. The Flood and the Ark appear in several Quranic passages rather than in one continuous chapter-length retelling.
A chapter of the Quran is named Surat Nuh, or “The Chapter of Noah.” The Quran also recounts parts of his story in chapters including Hud and Al-Mu’minun. These passages share the broad Ark theme with Genesis while differing in narrative details, emphasis, and wording.
Nuh should not be confused with Hud, Lut, or Yusuf, who are also prophets named in the Quran. English translations normally use “Noah,” but the Arabic name used in the Quran is Nuh.
