In the original Rocky, at which pet store does Adrian work?

In the original Rocky, Adrian works at J&M Tropical Fish, a Philadelphia pet store.

The shop is where Rocky Balboa first regularly encounters Adrian Pennino, the shy sister of his friend Paulie. Rocky visits to buy supplies for his pet turtles, Cuff and Link, and his awkward attempts to talk with Adrian establish the film’s central romance before either character fully understands where the relationship is heading.

J&M Tropical Fish was not merely an invented name. The real Kensington-area store was used for filming, making it one of the recognizable Philadelphia locations associated with the movie. The production’s use of the actual shop helped give Adrian’s workplace its cramped, lived-in neighborhood atmosphere.

Viewers sometimes confuse the store with Mighty Mick’s Gym, another important location in the story. Adrian works at the pet shop; Mickey’s gym is where Rocky trains and where his relationship with his reluctant mentor develops. The shop also connects to Butkus, the bullmastiff Adrian gives Rocky.
