The second film in the Jaws franchise is titled Jaws 2, released in 1978.
Jaws 2 was directed by Jeannot Szwarc and again stars Roy Scheider as police chief Martin Brody. The story returns to Amity Island, where Brody suspects another great white shark is threatening the resort community after the events of the first film.
The sequel was produced after the enormous success of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, released in 1975. Spielberg did not direct Jaws 2, but Scheider returned as Brody, helping maintain continuity with the original movie. The sequel’s promotional slogan, “Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water,” became closely associated with the film.
Later entries were titled Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge. Those titles are not alternatives for the 1978 sequel, whose official title is simply Jaws 2.
