In The Italian Job (1969), which actor plays mastermind Charlie Croker?
Answer
Michael Caine
Answer
Michael Caine
In The Italian Job (1969), Michael Caine plays mastermind Charlie Croker.
Croker is a recently released criminal who assembles a team to steal gold in Turin, Italy. The film follows the elaborate plan, the getaway through the city, and the complications that arise after the robbery. Caine's performance helped make Charlie Croker one of British cinema's best-known fictional criminals.
The film was directed by Peter Collinson and written by Troy Kennedy Martin. It is especially remembered for its use of three red, white, and blue Mini Coopers during the escape. Those cars carry the stolen gold through Turin's streets, drainage channels, and other difficult routes.
The 1969 film is often confused with the 2003 American remake, which stars Mark Wahlberg as Charlie Croker and changes much of the plot. Michael Caine does appear in the remake, but as John Bridger rather than Charlie Croker.
