In The Holiday, which actress plays Iris Simpkins?

Kate Winslet plays Iris Simpkins in the 2006 Christmas romantic comedy The Holiday.

Iris is a British newspaper columnist who is heartbroken when she learns that the man she loves is engaged to someone else. She swaps homes with Amanda Woods, an American played by Cameron Diaz, during the Christmas season.

The home exchange takes Iris from Surrey to Los Angeles, where she meets Miles Dumont, played by Jack Black. Amanda travels in the opposite direction and stays in Iris's English cottage, creating the film's parallel romantic stories.

The Holiday was written and directed by Nancy Meyers. A frequent mix-up is attributing Iris to Diaz, but Diaz plays Amanda, the other central woman. Winslet's performance helped establish the film as a recurring modern holiday favorite.
