In the Genesis Noah’s Ark story, Ham was involved in the episode of Noah’s uncovered nakedness.
Genesis 9 says that Noah planted a vineyard after the Flood, became drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent. Ham, identified as Noah’s son and the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside. Shem and Japheth then covered Noah while carefully avoiding looking at him.
When Noah awoke, he learned what had happened and pronounced words concerning Canaan. The passage is often summarized too loosely as a curse on Ham, but the text’s explicit pronouncement concerns Canaan, Ham’s son. That distinction matters when comparing translations and later interpretations.
This scene occurs after the ark narrative and after the covenant sign of the rainbow. It is a separate post-Flood episode involving Noah’s family, not an event aboard the ark during the storm.
