In the British television show Dragon's Den, which investor was known for founding the health-club chain Bannatyne Group?

The story behind the answer

In the British television show Dragon's Den, Duncan Bannatyne was known for founding the Bannatyne Group health-club chain.

Bannatyne built a business empire that included health clubs, hotels and spas. The Bannatyne Group became one of the UK's largest health-club operators, with clubs offering gym facilities, exercise classes and spa services.

He joined Dragon's Den as one of the original investors in 2005 and became one of the programme's most recognisable early Dragons. His on-screen investment style was often associated with direct questioning and a focus on whether a proposal could produce a credible return.

The Bannatyne name is sometimes confused with Peter Jones, another original Dragon who built businesses in consumer electronics, telecommunications and property. Bannatyne's defining business association is the health-club group carrying his surname.
