In the Book of Genesis, Ham is the son of Noah associated with the ancestry of Canaan. Genesis 9:18 identifies Ham as the father of Canaan after the flood narrative.
Genesis names Noah’s three sons as Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Their descendants are presented in the “Table of Nations” in Genesis 10, which links different peoples and territories to the three brothers.
The story later describes an incident involving Noah and his sons, followed by a curse directed at Canaan rather than directly at Ham. This passage has been misused historically to justify racism and slavery, but that interpretation is not a valid basis for treating any ethnic group as inferior.
The genealogical question is specific to the biblical text: Ham is named as Canaan’s father. Other traditions expand or alter genealogies, so the wording “in Genesis” is important for keeping the answer precise.
