After leaving the Ark, Noah became a farmer according to the Book of Genesis.
Genesis 9:20 says Noah began farming and planted a vineyard. This detail appears after the Flood narrative, the covenant, and the blessing of Noah’s family. It presents Noah not only as the builder and occupant of the Ark but also as someone who resumes settled cultivation in the renewed landscape.
The vineyard leads into the episode in which Noah drinks wine and becomes intoxicated. That later incident is separate from the Ark’s construction and from the Flood itself, but it is the reason Noah’s post-Flood occupation is often remembered alongside the vineyard.
A common mix-up is calling Noah a carpenter because Genesis describes the Ark as being constructed from wood. The text gives him instructions for building the vessel, but when Genesis explicitly describes his occupation after the Flood, it calls him a man of the soil, commonly translated as farmer or husbandman.
