In the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, eight people were saved aboard the ark.
Genesis identifies Noah, his wife, his three sons, and the wives of those three sons as the human occupants preserved from the Flood. Together, that makes eight people. The account presents Noah’s household as the surviving human family after the waters covered the land.
The eight people are not named individually in Genesis. Noah’s sons are named Shem, Ham, and Japheth, while the text does not provide names for Noah’s wife or the sons’ wives. This is why the safest canonical answer is a number rather than a list of names.
The New Testament also refers to “eight souls” being saved through water in 1 Peter 3:20. That later reference reinforces the traditional Christian reading of the Genesis number.
