In 'The Aristocats', what is the name of the butler who kidnaps the cats?

The story behind the answer

In The Aristocats, the butler who kidnaps the cats is Edgar.

Edgar is the English butler employed by Madame Adelaide Bonfamille in Disney’s 1970 animated film The Aristocats. He overhears that Madame intends to leave her fortune to her cats—Duchess and her kittens Berlioz, Marie and Toulouse—before the inheritance eventually passes to him. Miscalculating how long the cats will live, Edgar decides to remove them so he can claim the money sooner.

He drugs the cats by putting sleeping pills in their cream, then carries them away in a basket attached to his motorcycle. His plan goes wrong when the basket is intercepted by the dogs Napoleon and Lafayette, leaving the cats stranded in the countryside. Edgar’s actions set the main adventure in motion and separate the pampered pets from their Paris home.

Edgar is sometimes confused with Thomas O’Malley, but O’Malley is the alley cat who helps Duchess and her kittens return home. Duchess is the mother cat, while Scat Cat is the leader of the jazz-playing alley cats. Edgar is the human antagonist and the household’s scheming butler.
