In the 2014 film Noah, which actor played the biblical patriarch Noah?

Russell Crowe played the biblical patriarch Noah in the 2014 film Noah.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, Noah is a biblical-inspired epic starring Crowe in the title role. The film dramatizes the Flood story while adding characters, conflicts, and visual elements that are not narrated in the biblical Book of Genesis.

Jennifer Connelly plays Noah’s wife, Naameh, while Anthony Hopkins portrays Methuselah and Emma Watson plays Ila. The cast helped position the production as a major historical-fantasy film rather than a straightforward filmed reading of Genesis.

The movie was released internationally in 2014 and generated discussion about its departures from biblical tradition. Its portrayal of the Watchers, the descendants of Seth, and Noah’s moral struggle reflects the filmmakers’ interpretation of the source material.
