The high-tech sleigh in the 2011 film Arthur Christmas is called S-1.
S-1 is the enormous delivery craft used by Santa Claus and the North Pole operation. It contains advanced navigation and delivery technology, allowing the team to distribute presents around the world in a single night. The sleigh is designed as a highly sophisticated replacement for the traditional one-horse vehicle.
Arthur Christmas follows Arthur, Santa’s well-meaning younger son, after one child’s present is accidentally missed. Arthur sets out to deliver it before Christmas morning, accompanied by his grandfather Grandsanta and the elf Bryony.
The movie was produced by Aardman Animations and directed by Sarah Smith, with Barry Cook as co-director. Because the sleigh is usually described by its function rather than its designation, viewers may remember “Santa’s sleigh” but overlook its specific name, S-1.
