In the 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street, which actress plays Susan Walker?

The story behind the answer

Natalie Wood plays Susan Walker in the 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street.

Susan is the young daughter of Doris Walker, a pragmatic department-store executive played by Maureen O'Hara. At the start of the story, Susan doubts that Santa Claus exists, but her encounter with Kris Kringle gradually changes her outlook.

Wood was about eight years old when the film was released. Her performance became one of the defining child-actor roles in classic American Christmas cinema, and the film helped establish her as a major young performer.

The movie was directed by George Seaton and also stars Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle. The original film is set largely around Macy's and Gimbels, although the fictionalized story does not make it a documentary about either retailer.
