In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the youngest dwarf is Dopey.
Dopey is the youngest and most distinctive of the seven dwarfs in Disney’s 1937 animated feature. He is bald, has large ears, and is the only dwarf shown without a beard. His childlike behavior and frequent accidents make him the group’s comic and often most endearing character.
Dopey is also unusual because he does not speak. In the film, Happy explains that Dopey has simply never tried to talk, so his personality is expressed through gestures, facial expressions, physical comedy, and vocal effects. Eddie Collins supplied those vocal effects for the original production.
The other dwarfs are named for characteristic traits: Doc is the leader, Grumpy is irritable, Sleepy is perpetually tired, Bashful is shy, Sneezy suffers from hay fever, and Happy is cheerful. “Youngest” is a character description associated with Dopey rather than a plot point established through a stated birth order, but it is the standard canonical answer in Disney references and trivia.
