In Pixar's Cars, who is Lightning McQueen's chief rival in the Piston Cup?

Chick Hicks is Lightning McQueen's chief rival in Pixar's Cars.

Chick is a veteran racer identified by the number 86 and the green color scheme of his car. He is aggressive and willing to use unsporting tactics, making him a direct contrast to Lightning's gradual movement toward teamwork and sportsmanship.

The film's Piston Cup finale is complicated by a three-way tie between Lightning, Chick, and The King. During the decisive race, Chick causes The King to crash while attempting an overtaking maneuver. Lightning then stops to help The King, allowing Chick to win the race but losing the championship opportunity he had been pursuing.

The King, voiced by Richard Petty, is not Lightning's main rival; he is the respected veteran racer. Jackson Storm belongs to Cars 3, while Doc Hudson is Lightning's mentor in the first film. These distinctions help separate the principal racers across the trilogy.
